#312 - Older Is Getting Younger

30 years ago, we all had two ages. How old we are and how old we look. How old we look is usually ten years younger than how old we are.

20 years ago, we added a third age, how old we feel, because more often than not, due to the lifestyles we live, how old we feel is actually ten years older than how old we are.

10 years ago, I've added a fourth age, how old we act. How old we act is now 10 years younger than how old we look, which is ten years younger than how old we are, which is ten years younger than how old we feel.

310 - Scissor One

Why do they call it a "pair" of scissors? One scissor doesn't cut it. It
doesn't cut anything. I can understand a "pair" of pants, since pants are
merely short for pant-legs. But scissors? I mean, come on: who uses one
scissor? You can't buy just one scissor. The most you could use one scissor
for, and that's only if you break the "pair", is as a box cutter.

#308 - Hooked On A Feeling

What we say and how we feel is most definitely two opposites. Often what we say, is to salvage the conversation, to not bring on a harsh or brutal truth; to not bring on a controversy, a difference of opinion. So we may actually mean what we say, but only in a “PG” sorta way. It’s not how we really feel. 

Enter alcohol. If there is any positive in the effects of alcohol, it is in the reality of determining exactly how we actually feel, at any given time.

#306 - All Talk, No Action

Talk about me all you want. Makes no difference to me.

The people doing the talking, don't even know me, so why should I care.

At least they're talking about me. And that makes me famous. Or infamous.

#305 - Why Can't We Be Friends

If, or hopefully, when, you can set aside your thoughts and positions on either politics or religion, you can still be friends, just so long as you avoid all conversations involving politics or religion.

Arguments on politics and religion are based on viewpoints, which are basically glorified opinions. There is no right or wrong, which means it is useless to argue because you will never, EVER, change, the other person's views.

If you can successfully not say ANYTHING when your friends start discussing politics or religion, and "suck it up" by remaining silent, which is one of the hardest things to do in life, then you can still be friends. Otherwise, you're wasting your time. Move along.

My mother and father passed away in 1989 and 1995, respectively. My boss is in another city (St. Louis), who I only see once a year. I am knight without a lord. A prince without a king.  An apprentice without a master. A master without a grandmaster. A warrior without a shogun. I am RONIN.

Always treat the support staff with honor and respect. I know. I'm in a support position myself, working in the mailroom/copy center/fileroom, etc.

The CEO doesn't recognize what I do, but the janitors do.

The CEO doesn't say hello when we pass in the hallway, but the delivery drivers do.

On the off chance I do speak to the CEO, he doesn't care what I think or say, but the engineers do.

If I have a problem, the CEO directs me to my boss or HR, but the security officers at least empathize, since they've been there before.

When the CEO gives a company-wide direction, I am directly affected like everyone else, including the janitors, engineers, security personnel, and delivery drivers.

Always get to know your janitor. And security personnel. And building engineers. And delivery drivers, if they're regulars. All of them, will make your life easier. And even better, if you treat them with respect.

To save someone's life without any fanfare or notoriety, anonymously, is the ultimate self-sacrifice, and something I hope and wish to do, before I pass.

The benefit of a Gemini’s point-of-view, is not one viewpoint, but two. Geminis look at things from straight ahead, but also from an alternative angle. Sort a like when you look at a dog, and he looks at you, but you make a funny face, and the dog turns his head sideways, to look at you from a different angle, to figure you out.

This is not open to debate. There is no argument. It's an open-and-shut case. One of us is right, and one of us is wrong. I'm right, and you're wrong. Now, you can take Option A: walk way, in silence, look it up and see for yourself, then apologize in private, and we'll leave it at that. Or...you can take Option B: put your money where your mouth is. Money talks...and bullshit walks. Personally, I hope you take Option B. I can always use the money. But I'd be happy with Option A. Your call.
